Just a few tidbits of prerace info from our end today:
So without further preamble (a first for us), off we go! As always, please drop a line with any questions or suggestions. See you in just a bit less than two weeks! Mike Winner! Last week our merchandise sponsor Primal Wear jumped into the fundraising incentive fray and donated a couple of their highly regarded Helix kits. With two full kits at our disposal we decided to award both of them – the top fundraiser from last week and the first runner-up both receive a full kit. The winners? Nate Wilson . . . step right up! With a weekly total of $1,075 raised, you’re the first runner up! We’ve got a fresh Helix kit with YOUR name written all over it! And the winner? Josh Pinkert . . . come on down! With a grand total of $1,275 raised between May 25-30, you’re the official grand champion fundraiser of the week! Join all of us at the HUNDO in giving Nate and Josh a big round of digital "Attaboys!" for their fantastic effort. What’s that? You got a fundraising fire in your belly? That’s funny, because we’re just about to announce . . . The link that you send to your friends and family so that they can donate to your effort can be found here. THIS WEEK’S FUNDRAISING CONTEST! We’re loading up the HUNDO incentive program prize hopper with fresh gear for this week. We thought offering a couple of prizes last week was a good idea. What could be better than rewarding TWO great efforts? Recognizing THREE of them, of course! The top THREE fundraisers from now until Friday at 5PM each receive their choice of Shimano’s XT Trail or XC pedal. As well all know, pedals are both and amazing upgrade as well as a helpful item to have around as a spare. Huge thanks to Shimano for stepping up with this great prize item!
THIS WEEK’S INSTALLMENT OF "HOW TO BECOME A FUNDRAISING JEDI" For the past several weeks we’ve tasked our board members, each successful fundraisers in their own right, to pass along their perspective on what elements constitute a successful fundraising campaign. This week’s short, sweet and simple tips arrive from Trips for Kids -Denver/Boulder founder and outreach ambassador (and Bailey HUNDO board member) Andrew Goodwillie. Andrew had these gems to offer when asked to provide his thoughts; ANDREW’S TIPS: Thanks for the opportunity to talk to the racers, Mike! I was thinking about reminding our racers about timing…and that it’s NEVER too late to ask! If you haven’t started the ball rolling yet, reach out to friends, family and accomplices now! Some folks on your list might be all-stars who jump to it and support you generously in a jiffy. Others might have been out fishing with uncle Billy or nursing a barfing toddler back to health and just didn’t see your note/post the first time around. It’s really easy to "slip below the fold" in someone’s inbox and it’s very possible that many of your potential donors just didn’t possess a free moment to help the first time around. Try, try again! One last note about fundraising from all of us here; we’ve received many questions asking if final donations can be brought to packet pickup. The answer? YES! You can bring whatever checks or commitments you have in your possession to bib pickup at Bicycle Village on the Thursday preceding the event or on Friday event the night before the race. Please note that Friday’s packet pickup is located at the race FINISH, not the fire station as in year’s past. You’ll find details below. NEW SECTION PRE-RIDE THIS SUNDAY Eager to see the new doubletrack section that gets all of you off the road for a bit over three miles? Take our word for it – it’s stunningly beautiful and in addition to that, represents a huge safety upgrade as well. The Estabrook Road addition lies entirely on private land and is inaccessible to the public outside of the day of the race. The Berger family has generously allowed us to offer a preview to interested riders with the simple caveat being that they be a part of a led group and not attempt to navigate the addition outside of that dynamic. Please join rider leaders Andy Leifer and Tom Carby this Sunday for a preview of the new section. You can join them at the Rustic Station for a pre-ride breakfast and 9:10am departure, or meet them at the private access gate 2.5 miles south of Bailey at 9:30am. The ride through the new section will take about an hour (conversational pace!) and riders are free to preview the rest of the course on their own after that. Hope to see you there!!
