Start your engines, HUNDO fans!

Our VIP legacy entry period is about to close and with that benchmark on the horizon, it’s time to spread the word to HUNDO loyalists like you; congratulations . . . you’re IN!

Today marks the last day that our legacy riders can guarantee their spot – after midnight tonight our remaining spots are offered on a first come first served basis. As one of our many loyal riders we hope we can rely on you to help spread the good word to any potential candidates. Public registration is open now, while Legacy racers have until midnight tonight to exercise their guaranteed entry privilege.  View Legacy racers.

Our guess is that like our board of directors, staff and volunteers, you’re deeply committed to one (or several) of the many great organizations the HUNDO supports. To date (and with YOUR help!) we’ve generated significant operating funds for;

  1. The Colorado High School Cycling League or "CO League" to many, a chapter of NICA (Nat’l Interscholastic Cycling Association) where youth gain skills, confidence, and a healthy lifestyle through interscholastic in cross-country mountain biking competition in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

  2. COMBA – the Colorado Mountain Bike Association, a non-profit dedicated to protecting and improving mountain biking on the Front Range.

  3. Trips For Kids Denver/Boulder – dedicated to providing underserved, urban youth the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of Colorado from the seat of a mountain bike.

  4. Bailey Trails! – A passionate group of local builders committed to enhancing and improving the vast network of trails accessible from the Bailey area (just 26 minutes from Denver we might add!)

On to the race and the race details! Here’s a quick look at some of the changes we’ve made for 2014 including the fundraising tools we’ve developed to help each rider attain their minimum donation requirement of $250.

Fundraising Tools

As you know, your commitment to the HUNDO or the inaugural 50-mile HUNDitO implies your commitment to raise at least $250. We’ve assembled several great tools for you to use to help you reach, and in many cases exceed that goal.

  1. Your official fundraising page! Click the (HUNDO Racers) link to find your name. Clicking on it will take you to your official fundraising page complete with a link you can use to send to your network of family and friends, making it easy for them to support your ride.

  2. Does your employer offer a corporate matching program? We’ve got the information you need to tap into this common resource. Just drop a note to [email protected] and our new race director Mike McCormack will reply with our Advance CO 501(c)(3) number and a sample donation letter to make this strategy simple and painless for your and your community-minded employer.

  3. Hate fundraising but love the course and the programs we underwrite? Write a check! It’s that easy. The fundraising minimum is $250 . . . all of which you can underwrite yourself via your fundraising page or by check at packet pickup/registration.

Wanna know where you stand? Here’s the latest HUNDO Fundraising leader board. This list reflects all rider fees and contributions.

Other Breaking News

Increased field size!
The USFS has upped the allowed racer count due to our flawless record of leaving the course clean, not impacting other trail users and marking the course early and often so trail users in the area know to expect racers on the course on race morning.

The Debut of the 50-mile HUNDitO
In an effort to spread the awesomeness, we’ve added a 50-mile option for those riders not quite up for the full HUNDO. Call it an appetizer, a preview, or a plain awesome day in the saddle and come on out for the mini-version. The HUNDitO will offer guaranteed spots to HUNDO legacy riders from last year, but remember, spots are very limited and open registration begins TODAY. Want in? Hop to it!

National Endurance Series
The HUNDO is part of the National Ultra Endurance Series (NUE) this year. We can expect to see some of the very best endurance riders from across the country as they compete for the most prestigious endurance title on the continent.

New and Improved Incentive Program
Look for full details from our camp soon, but we’ve added several significant partners to our incentive program. Riders can expect fantastic (and realistic to achieve!) awards in recognition of their fundraising benchmarks. Look for apparel, wheels, components, accessories and much much more to reward the HUNDO loyal!

In Closing

Thank you. To all of our wonderful sponsors and fabulous volunteers who help make this event incredible and fun. And, most of all THANK YOU for racing the HUNDO and for your generous, charitable support of COMBA, Colorado High School Cycling League, Trips for Kids and the Bailey Trails Foundation.

Sincerely,

The Bailey HUNDO Board and Staff

Sample Fundraising Letter (edit and send to your family and friends!)

Hi Family and Friends!

This year, I’m racing in the Bailey HUNDO ( www.bailey100.com ) to raise money for these organizations.

  • Trips For Kids – offers mountain biking opportunities to underserved youth and changes lives "two wheels at a time"!

  • Colorado High School Cycling League – a new resource for high school students around the state to be exposed to the world of mountain bike racing–and developing the racers of tomorrow!

  • Colorado Mountain Biking Association – advocating for mountain biking in Colorado and building awesome new trails with volunteers and community members.

The Bailey HUNDO is a 100 mile mountain bike race, which includes 50 miles of single track and over 10,000 feet of climbing.

The Bailey HUNDitO is a 50 mile mountain bike race, which includes 30 miles of single track and over 5,000 feet of climbing.

In short, a monster of a ride. The race on June 14th, which gives me the right amount of time to train for the event.

I hope you’ll considering donating $25, $50, $100 or more to these great organizations on my behalf. Your donation will help me to get out there and train harder.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.  You can find my link here.

Many thanks for your support — and don’t forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

Many thanks and wish me luck – I hope to complete the race in under X hours.
